August 16th: Characters’ Fitness Routines You Want
— This can be interpreted a bunch of different ways! Fitness comes in many different packages. This can be about characters who are super fast, strong, agile, good at dancing, good at climbing, athletes, or foodies! Whatever it means to you. This is inspired by those routines you see in magazines for actors, but with more of an open mind and less body shaming 🙂

I really thought this would be an easy topic, but it turned out to be a bit of a challenge. I ended up going with 4 book characters, and one TV show character. In no particular order…

George or Fred Weasley from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling– Why? Because I always wanted to be a Beater. I knew I’d suck as a Seeker, probably as a Keeper, and I don’t fancy being a Chaser (although it would be my second choice of positions if I got to try out for Quidditch). But being a Beater? Heck yeah!

Inej Ghafa from the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo– I have all the grace of a drunken hippo at this point, but I’d love to be able to move like Inej. (I actually used to be stealthy, and an agile, balance beam loving, climb ALL the things! kind of kid, but then I broke stuff and now I’m an old lady.) Plus, all the knives!

Delilah Bard from the Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab– I’m not even sure what to say about this one because there’s several aspects to Lila and her physical abilities. Plus, again, knives! (Apparently I have a thing for characters with knives, idk.)

Almost anyone from Camp Half Blood from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan– Learning to fight, chariot races, capture the flag, and so much more! (I would die so fast probably.)

Sookie St. James from Gilmore Girls– Does constant bustling around a busy professional kitchen, wielding cast iron skillets, whipping things by hand, etc. count for fitness? I love to cook and I would love to be on Sookie’s level. Plus, even though Michel will never admit it, she kicked his ass at arm wrestling.

Fandom Mashups: August 6th

This is a weekly meme created by Lunar Rainbows. Every week there’s a new scenario and you choose 5 characters from 5 different fandoms to complete the task.

The topic this week is: A night a magical fireworks is on the agenda tonight!  Which characters do you think would get a bigger kick out of tagging along?

In no particular order…

Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter– Why yes, I will use any excuse to mention Luna ❤ (And I really think she would be into this.)

Anna from Frozen– I think she would love getting to watch magical fireworks, and would be really fun to hang out with. I loved her excitement about stuff, so I would definitely invite her along.

Brian Fuller from Gilmore Girls– My husband actually mentioned Brian while I was trying to think of people for this list, and I had to agree, but I’m not 100% sure why. I just think he’d be awed by it.

Sookie Stackhouse from The Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood– Maybe she wouldn’t be as fascinated as some of the rest of us, but I think she’d like it. She seems like the kind of woman who would like a nice evening of just kicking back and enjoying a magical light show in the sky.

Misty Day from American Horror Story: Coven– One of my favorite characters from any season, I think Misty would be into this outing.

Who would you take to watch magical fireworks?

May 30th: Fandoms You Are No Longer In
–Everyone has those fandoms they used to be super invested in, and now are no longer a part of.

I’m going to have to cheat a little with this topic, because I’m kind of a lifer when it comes to fandoms. I’m not saying there aren’t things that have fandoms that I’ve lost interest in, but I never considered myself a real part of those fandoms. This is also the one topic I haven’t been able to come up with all/mostly books for, because, like I said, I’m a lifer.

So, in no particular order, these are the fandoms I used to obsessively keep up with, read fanfic and theories about, etc., but now, not so much.

Supernatural– I was there pretty much from the beginning (I think I came in around S1E3), and I was devoted for years. *deep breath* I was even there for the Mishapocalypse… I still love Supernatural (even though I’m a season or 3 behind), but I’m just not as invested in it as I once was.

Gilmore Girls– It almost hurts me to say this, but I’m just not as infatuated with this show as I was back in the day. I still love Lorelei, but I’ve kind of started to almost dislike Rory.

Degrassi– Ok, so mostly from The Next Generation back in the early to mid 2000s, but I also watched reruns of the original series. I loved the show, I would totally watch the episodes from that time period again, but I’m not going to seek them out very seriously.

Anne Rice– *sigh* I’m not going to go into why I’m not in the fandom anymore, but I’ll just say it has a bit to do with fanfic and a lot to do with me and my tastes changing as I grew up. I still love the Interview movie, though. (I’ve read books of hers outside the Vampire Chronicles, so that’s why I just used her instead of one series.)

X-Men– I didn’t really get into comics until a few years ago, as an adult, but I did have some X-Men comics way back in the day. When the first movie came out, I was soooo excited. Then the second movie came out, and I was soooo excited. Around the third, I started to lose interest. But then came X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the damn near unrecognizable Wade Wilson/Deadpool and the honeymoon was over. I still like X-Men, even that movie, but I juts don’t get too excited anymore, except about Deadpool.
