It’s my (30th) birthday, and I’m doing more than one birthday bookish tag today, but this is the one I first did back in 2017, and I’m thinking of making it into a tradition on my blog ๐
This tag was created by Kristen over at Metaphors and Moonlight, and I think it’s a little unique and pretty fun.
For this tag, you choose five books and then open the specified book of each question to a random page and follow the directions to get your answer.
My Book Picks
Six of Crows, The Accident Season, Half Blood Prince, Vicious, Dead in the Family
Open Book 1 โ The first character name on the page is the one who plans the surprise party.
Kaz… Oh dear.
Open Book 2 โ The first character name on the page is the one who ruins the surprise early (either by accidentally mentioning it or by telling you on purpose because they canโt keep a secret).
Bea. I feel like she’d just let it slip accidentally, but it’s been a few years since I read this, so I’m fuzzy on details about her character.
Open Book 3 โ Wherever the current scene takes place will be the location of the party (as specific as possible, e.g. a personโs house, a grocery store, the middle of a forest, etc.).
Hagrid’s hut! As long as there aren’t a lot of people, this could be fun.
Open Book 4 โ The first character name on the page is the one who bakes the cake.
Sydney. This should be interesting.
Open Book 5 โ The first character name on the page is the one who sticks their finger in the icing when no one is looking.
Claude is definitely the type to stick his finger in the icing of someone else’s cake.
Open Book 1 โ The first character name on the page is the one who buys trick candles (those kinds that never go out).
Nina haha. I can see it. She wouldn’t be the first person I would accuse, but I don’t think getting trick candles is something she would be against or anything.
Open Book 2 โ The first noun on the page that is a tangible object is the first gift you open.
Phone. Weirdly, that is exactly what I got for my birthday ๐
Open Book 3 โ The first character name on the page is the one who puts on the dorky party hat.
Ron haha. I can totally see it.
Open Book 4 โ The first noun or adjective (whatever works) on the page is what the party theme will be.
Books lmao. That’s appropriate ๐
Open Book 5 โ The first noun on the page that is a tangible object is what the pinata will be filled with.
Post-it… Well. That’s, uh…practical?
How did the party turn out?
Hmm. Not too bad, I think? I would love to have–or even just attend–a book-themed party, and I feel like spending time in Hagrid’s hut would be pretty cool. (Fang will be there, right?) The guests that I know of seem mostly cool, but I’m not thrilled about Claude being there
All in all, it sounds pretty okay, and could certainly be worse ๐
Happy birthday! I turn 30 next year too, both looking forward to it and not, ahaha.

Thanks! I started looking forward to it more and more after I turned 28, but there was still a little dread mixed in haha
